The APEC personal Training Diploma has been designed to be engaging and interactive. The course provides the learner with the fundamentals and understanding of how to engage with clients on a 1-2-1 basis both in-person and online. You will understand the underpinning anatomy of the human body, the application of nutrition and how to apply that to support the delivery of a workout programme as well as how to deliver safe and effective Personal Training sessions.
Exercise Anatomy & Physiology
The core of any successful trainer is fully comprehending human anatomy and planes of motion. In this course, you will learn both basic and advanced anatomy and training systems, including the circulatory, endocrine, skeletal, respiratory and energy systems. Additionally, you will see how those systems interact and are influenced during various formats of exercise, so you can programme the client’s workouts effectively.
Principles of Exercise, Health & Fitness
Understanding the key principles of exercise is fundamental to understanding how to write a plan to mirror your client’s fitness goals. You will learn how the body reacts to different forms of training, intensity levels and rep counts. When and how to use these different forms of training and understand how this affects your client during physical activity and the long-term effects associated.
The Diploma in Personal Training has a dedicated nutrition module that covers all the nutrition basics including understanding nutrient groups, macros, micros, portion sizing, food labelling, the eat well guide and much more. Additionally, you will learn how to apply your nutritional knowledge to a client’s fitness goals and dietary requirements including vegetarian and vegan diets.
Programming & Personal Training Sessions
As a personal trainer, you need to write bespoke and fully customised programmes for a variety of fitness goals and factor in special considerations based on your client’s individual needs.
During the course, you will learn advanced training systems and know when and how to apply them correctly. You will take a client from the screening process through to consultancy, goal setting and writing an 8-week programme overview to match their needs.
How To Deliver Personal Training Sessions
After learning how to program for your client, you will then find out how to effectively deliver your programme, including how to build rapport with clients and motivate them both before during and away from sessions. You will also learn advanced techniques for measuring and assessing clients progress accurately and how to make exercises both progressive and regressive.
